Deep Career Experiences Across Grade Levels
Elementary (K-5)

Measuring Depth
How do you know if your career education is "deep enough"? Ask these questions:
- Could a student describe what a professional in this field actually does day-to-day? Not the textbook definition — the real work.
- Did the student produce something a professional would recognize? Not a school assignment with a career theme — an actual professional artifact.
- Can the student articulate whether this career interests them, and why? Based on experience, not a quiz result.
- Did the student develop skills they could name and demonstrate? Not just "I learned about engineering" — specific, transferable capabilities.
